Overview

A unified API banking experience with one shared entry point and two connected journeys. Business users explore API package solutions and identify next steps towards adoption; developers discover APIs, review specifications and integration guides, and test capabilities interactively. The journeys stay connected, so business and technical teams can work together from first interest through to a pilot and integration.

The challenge

API banking serves people with different goals and levels of technical knowledge. Business users need to understand the available API solutions and see what fits their needs. Developers need detailed specifications, integration guidance and ways to explore and test API capabilities.

The challenge was to bring these needs together in one platform, guiding people to the right information and actions without forcing them into disconnected journeys.

Key experience areas

01

API discovery and documentation

Documentation pages that bring specifications and integration guides together, and say clearly when sandbox access is not yet available.

02

AI-assisted guidance

An AI assistant in full-screen and pop-up views, with conversation history and responses tailored to the user’s sign-in status. It guides people to the right next step, with safeguards against unreliable answers and misuse.

03

Interactive API exploration

A preview, simulator and testing area that helps people understand API capabilities before they get full sandbox access.

04

Digital access requests

Legacy paper-based access requests turned into a digital submission workflow.

05

Feedback and support

Getting-started guidance in the Support section, and feedback collection across the platform.

06

Future account experience

Post-login dashboard concepts for API usage, certificates, settings and saved assistant conversations.

Delivery approach

The work ran across two releases. The first improved the live production experience, including documentation, support and feedback. The second explored AI-assisted guidance and wider future-state capabilities, backed by interaction design and work on backend and security edge cases.

The opportunity

The project brings business and technical needs into one connected API banking experience. By helping people move from understanding the available solutions to exploring capabilities and preparing for integration, the platform aims to reduce friction across the journey and support collaboration between business and development teams.

AI security UX: guardrail interaction patterns
AI guidance without adding friction: security guardrails such as passive verification, honeypot blocking, guardrailed prompts, character limits, progressive exposure, rate limits and honest “can’t answer” states. These are UX prototypes; the real controls run server-side.
